Replacing a deck on shetland 535

Hmmm, definitely doesn't look like a 535. Perhaps somone with geater knowledge will be able to identify it.

Hi, Well she looks like no Shetland I can remember but still a good looking boat. Highish freeboard and deep V forward should make a good sea kindly boat. I`ll look through some old (60s) magazines to see if she can be identified. Regards. Keith

thank you guys again , well i can work out how high and how long to make ribs and stringers But how many ribs dose she need ,she is 17 ft long not sure of her width as i home , have tried looking on line but no luck so far sill looking

hi was told when i bought her she was a shetland so not know now ,been looking on line can not find anything like her ,anyone know were the best place to look up old boats makes and design please

well have now all most got cap off hull beaten by weather need to sort out transom then the floor stringers and ribs if i need them or know were to put them ??????

Hi, years ago when I was more involved with boat building, a lot of stringers and ribs etc were made out of closed cell polyurethane foam, easy to cut and former and glass fibre sticks to it. It's the shape of the glassfibre that gives the strength while allowing flexibility. The foam is brown and may be the same as sold for house insulation, you could try a piece in water to make sure it doesn't absorb water. The polystyrene type of foam is useless as it is dissolved by polyester resin. Hope this helps. Keith
